When you rent a studio space through Zenamu, you send your request together with your choice of payment. This article explains how payment works, when and how you get your money back, and where to find your rentals.
How payment works
You pick a time slot in the studio's listing and choose a payment method. What's on offer depends on the studio's setup: you can pay by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay at studios with online payments (handled by Stripe, so your details stay safe); at studios with PayPal connected, you can pay by PayPal; and if the studio has allowed it on the listing, also by bank transfer or in person at the studio.
Your first request includes filling in your billing details — for rentals, Zenamu always asks for them so the studio can issue a proper receipt. Your saved details are used automatically for later bookings.
Card or PayPal — you pay right when you send the request. The request isn't created until the payment goes through, and an unpaid request disappears on its own within an hour.
Bank transfer — as soon as you send the request, you get the payment details, including a QR code and a payment reference. The studio approves your booking before the money arrives; the transfer then has to reach the studio by the due date shown on the booking, or the booking is cancelled automatically.
At the studio — you pay at the studio. The studio approves the request first, and you pay on site as agreed.
Depending on the studio's setup, your booking is either confirmed right away or sent to the studio for approval.
What happens if the studio rejects your request
If the studio has approval turned on and rejects your request, you get back everything you've already paid. The same goes if the studio doesn't respond within 24 hours and Zenamu rejects it automatically. If you haven't paid anything yet (transfer on its way, payment at the studio), the request is simply cancelled and there's nothing to settle.
Card payments are refunded to the card you paid with — depending on the bank, it usually takes 5 to 10 days to land. A PayPal payment is refunded to your PayPal account. A transfer that's already arrived is refunded by the studio directly to your account.
How much you get back when you cancel
When you cancel a booking yourself, the refund depends on the listing's cancellation policy and how much time is left before the start:
A pending request the studio hasn't approved yet can be cancelled anytime, and you get the full amount back.
Right after paying, you have 24 hours to cancel with a full refund, as long as there are more than 72 hours left before the start.
A confirmed booking follows the listing's cancellation policy. Policies are flexible, standard, or strict, and you'll find them on each listing before you book.
For payments at the studio, of course, there's nothing to refund until you've actually paid. The article Cancellation policies for rentals breaks down the individual policy levels in detail.
Proof of payment
After paying, you get a receipt based on the studio's setup, just like with any other booking in Zenamu. It serves as confirmation of your rental payment.
Where to find your rentals
You'll find all your rentals in your account under My rentals. You'll see upcoming and past bookings, their status, the payment method, any transfer due date, and the studio's contact details.
Changing the time
You can't edit the time of a confirmed booking directly. If you need a different time, cancel the existing booking and create a new one for the time you want. Cancelling applies the listing's cancellation policy, so keep in mind you might not get the full amount back.
