Memberships: Recurring Payments

Yes — Zenamu now supports recurring memberships that charge your clients' cards automatically every month, quarter, or year. How they work, and how they differ from one-time memberships.

Yes — Zenamu now supports recurring memberships. You can offer your clients a membership that renews automatically, charging their card on a regular schedule (monthly, quarterly, or yearly). It works like a subscription: the client enters their card once, agrees to the recurring payment, and from then on the membership renews on its own — no reminder e-mails to send, no payments to chase.

You can still offer one-time memberships as well — the two options sit side by side, and you choose which to offer (or offer both).

Recurring vs one-time memberships

Recurring membership

One-time membership

Renews automatically — the card is charged each period without the client doing anything.

Valid for a fixed period and does not renew. The client buys again when it expires (Zenamu sends a reminder e-mail before it ends).

Card only (via Stripe); the client consents to the recurring payment once.

Can be paid by card, bank transfer, or any method you have enabled.

Best for ongoing monthly/yearly members and predictable revenue.

Best for fixed packages, or when you want to confirm each payment manually.

How recurring memberships work (in short)

  • The client buys on your public page, enters their card, and confirms the recurring payment. Everything runs through Stripe.

  • The membership renews automatically each period. Recurring memberships are card-only.

  • You can pause, cancel, change the variant, or change the price from the client's membership detail.

  • If a payment fails, there's a grace period with automatic retries before the membership is cancelled.

  • Recurring memberships need the Ultimate plan and a connected Stripe account.

FAQ

Can I charge my client's card automatically every month?

Yes. Create a recurring membership, and after the client gives consent at checkout, their card is charged automatically each period (monthly, quarterly, or yearly). See How to create a recurring membership.

My clients are used to automatic charging from another booking system. Can they switch?

Yes. With a recurring membership, the client enters their card once and consents to the recurring payment, then renewals are automatic. Because of how card mandates work, each client buys the recurring membership themselves in Zenamu — see Migrating from another platform.

Do discount codes apply to every renewal?

No — a discount code applies to the first payment only; every later renewal is billed at the full price. See Discount codes and recurring memberships.

Do I have to use recurring memberships?

No. One-time memberships still work exactly as before: the client pays for a fixed period, the membership doesn't renew automatically, and they buy again when it expires (with a reminder e-mail before it ends). Offer whichever fits your studio — or both.
