This article supplements the main guide to automatic payment matching and covers the most common error states when connecting your bank through GoCardless.
Common error states
Service not available in your country
Bank account integration via GoCardless is only available in selected countries. If you see this message, accounts in your country cannot be connected at this time.
Bank account is not in the default currency
Automatic matching only works with a bank account that uses your studio's default currency.
Bank transfer payment method is not active
Enable the bank transfer payment method in your payment settings first, then try connecting your account again.
Feature requires the Ultimate plan
Automatic payment matching is available on the Ultimate plan. You won't be able to complete the connection on a lower plan.
Account is already connected
If the same account is already linked, disconnect the existing connection first and then create a new one.
Access has expired (90 days)
PSD2 access has a limited validity period. Click Reconnect and re-authorize access with your bank.
Recommended troubleshooting steps
Check that the bank transfer payment method is active.
Check your subscription plan and the account currency.
If the connection has expired or is in an error state, reconnect it (Reconnect).
If the account is already connected, disconnect it and connect it again.
Payment not matched to an order
Even with a working integration, some payments may not match automatically (e.g. due to an incorrect payment reference or a mismatched amount). In that case, compare the incoming payments in your online banking with the orders in Zenamu and manually mark the matching order as paid.
Tip: Remind your clients to enter the correct payment reference and the exact amount. This significantly improves the matching success rate.
FAQ
Why do I have to reconnect my bank?
European PSD2 regulations require that access to bank data has a limited validity period and needs to be renewed periodically.
My bank is not listed -- what can I do?
The integration depends on whether your specific bank and country are supported through GoCardless and Open Banking. If you don't see your bank in the list, it may not be supported yet.
