Marketing automations: overview

Birthday greetings and win-back emails Zenamu sends for you — what the automations do and how to turn them on.

Wishing a client a happy birthday, or reaching out to someone who hasn't been in for a few months, does a lot for your relationship with them. The hard part is remembering to do it at the right moment. Marketing automations handle that for you: Zenamu notices when a client has a birthday or hasn't shown up in a while, and sends them an email based on your template — optionally with a gift voucher. This article covers what the automations do and how to turn them on.

Which automations you get

  • Birthday greeting — on a client's birthday (or a few days before), Zenamu sends them a greeting. Each client gets one at most once a year.

  • Win-back — when a client hasn't been in for a while, Zenamu sends them a "we miss you" email and invites them back.

You can attach a gift voucher to either email. There's a separate article that covers vouchers in detail.

Where to find the automations and how to turn them on

Go to Marketing and promo and open the Marketing tab. You'll see two cards, Birthday greeting and Win-back. On each card:

  1. Tick Send birthday greetings (on the second card, Send win-back emails).

  2. In Send at, pick the hour the emails should go out — it runs in your studio's time zone.

  3. Edit the subject and body of the email. We've pre-filled a natural default you can use as it is, or rewrite in your own words.

  4. Save.

Each card has its own settings, so you can send only greetings, only win-back, or both.

Email body and variables

You write the text in a simple editor with formatting. If you've enabled a gift voucher, the Insert variable button lets you add the voucher value and its expiry date — in the email that goes out, they're replaced with the real details. The preview always shows you how the email will look.

You don't need to put your studio name in the text. Clients see it as the sender and in the email header.

Try the email first

Send a test email sends you a sample message showing exactly what a client would get. You can change the recipient address before sending, which is handy when you want to show the preview to a colleague. A test email doesn't record anything and doesn't touch your clients in any way.

Who the emails go to

The automations reach the active clients at your studio. They're never sent to a client who has unsubscribed from marketing emails, or to an address that keeps failing to deliver. Every email that goes out has an unsubscribe link in the footer — there's more in the article on delivery, stats, and unsubscribes.

To keep clients from getting too many messages, Zenamu always leaves at least a week between two marketing emails to the same client.

Which plan you need

Marketing automations are available on the Ultimate plan and during the trial. On lower plans you'll still see the section, but the settings are inactive.
