Pass categories

Split your passes into separate categories and decide exactly which classes clients can use them for — for example reformer classes only, or a specific instructor's classes.

Different classes have different prices, capacities, and running costs — so one universal pass won't suit every studio. With pass categories, you can split your entry passes into separate groups and decide exactly which classes clients can use them for.

For example, you can offer passes valid:

  • only for reformer Pilates classes,

  • only for weekend workshops,

  • or only for classes with a particular instructor.

Clients buy a pack of entries and use it only on those specific classes. It keeps the different parts of your offer cleanly separate: a cheaper pass for regular classes can't be used on the pricier reformer sessions, and a pack bought with one instructor stays reserved for their classes.

What is a pass category?

A category is a group of entry passes with its own name and, optionally, a description and an image. Within one category you can offer several pass variants — say, 5, 10, or 20 entries with different prices and validity. Same as before.

What's new is that each category can be offered on different classes: you decide where the passes from a category apply by adding them as a pricing option to specific classes, courses, workshops, or appointment services.

How to create a new category

  1. Go to Settings → Passes and memberships and click Add entry pass.

  2. Choose Add pass category. (If you just want another variant in a category you already have, choose Add passes to an existing category instead.)

  3. Name the category (for example "Reformer pass"), and optionally add a description and an image.

  4. Add its first pass variants — for each one, set the number of entries, the price, and the validity. You can add more variants anytime later.

  5. Save. The new category appears in your public schedule under the Passes section, and clients can start buying its passes.

Decide which classes the passes apply to

A pass can be used to pay for a class when you add it as a pricing option. When creating or editing a class, course, workshop, or appointment service, add the pass to its pricing options — from that moment, clients who own it can pay with it.

One class can offer passes from several categories side by side (and combine them with credits, card payment, and other methods) — each client simply picks the option they own.

Important

When adding a pass as a pricing option, the "number of entries" field controls how many entries are deducted per one booking — it is not the total size of the pass. For standard classes, leave it at 1. More in Entry Passes.

What clients see

  • In your public schedule, the Passes section shows the offer by category — with its name, image, and available variants.

  • After purchase, the entries are added to the client's account — both the client and you (in the client's detail) can see the balance.

  • When booking, the pass is offered as a payment option only on classes where you added it as a pricing option — entries from one category can't be spent elsewhere.

As with all passes, clients need a Zenamu account to buy and use them — see Entry Passes for details.

How many categories can you have?

Entry passes are part of every paid plan, and one pass category is always included. Multiple pass categories are available on the current Expert and Ultimate plans.

Don't want to upgrade, but need a different category? Archive your active category first — then you can create a new one, for example a universal offer. Passes your clients have already purchased stay with them and remain usable.

Archiving and deleting a category

Archiving (Withdraw from offer): the category stops being offered in your public schedule and clients can no longer buy passes from it. Passes clients already own stay with them and remain usable. The pass also remains a pricing option on the classes where it is set — if you no longer want to offer it there, remove it from each class manually.

Deleting: the category is permanently hidden from your overview. Here too, passes clients already own stay with them and remain usable.

FAQ

Can one class offer passes from several categories?

Yes. A class can have any number of passes among its pricing options — for example both a universal pass and the instructor's own pass. Clients pay with whichever they own.

Can I offer several variants within one category?

Yes — as before, a category can hold several variants such as 5, 10, or 20 entries, each with its own price and validity.

What happens to passes clients already bought when I archive or delete a category?

Nothing — they stay on the clients' accounts and remain usable until the entries run out or expire.

Do credits have categories too?

No. Credits work as one shared balance that clients spend across your whole offer — that's exactly their strength. If you want to keep parts of your offer separate, use pass categories; if you prefer one flexible balance, go with credits.

I'm on the Standard plan and want a different category — what are my options?

Either archive your current active category and create a new one (passes your clients already purchased stay usable), or switch to the current Expert plan and run several categories side by side.

How do clients know which classes a pass is valid for?

The pass is offered as a payment option only on the classes where you added it as a pricing option, so clients can't spend it in the wrong place. A clear category name and description (for example "Valid for reformer classes only") also helps them pick the right pass when buying.
