This article compares the two prepaid products your clients can buy from your studio: credit packs and entry passes. It isn't about memberships, gift vouchers or discount codes. Some clients prefer paying for classes with credits or entry passes rather than reaching for their payment card every time they book. Offer them discounted credit packs or entry passes to purchase. Both are available on all paid plans, not on the free Getting Started plan.
If you want to cap how often a client comes, for example up to 8 classes a month, use a membership with Max bookings per membership month instead: the limit starts again every membership month, while entries and credits are used up. Memberships are available on the Expert and Ultimate plans and during the trial.
Credits function as virtual money that your clients can use to pay for classes. When booking, the class price (e.g., 170 credits) is deducted from their account.
Entry passes work as a bundle of prepaid classes (e.g., 10 entries for 100 EUR). When a client books a class, 1 entry is deducted from their account. Both credits and entries can also be used for courses, events and appointments, as long as you add a price in credits or entries to them.
Advantages
Simple for Both You and Your Clients
Everything is paid upfront
Credits or entries are automatically deducted after booking
Automatic registration from the waitlist
For credits, you can also set up transparent and fair cancellation fees
Which System Should You Choose?
Both systems share many common advantages (see above), so how do they differ?
Entry passes are a bit simpler — clients buy a bundle of entries and one entry is deducted per booking. They're great for promotions like "10+1 free entry". You can also split your passes into several categories and decide exactly which classes each of them is valid for — say, one pass for regular classes and a separate one for reformer classes or a particular instructor. Several pass categories are available on the current Expert and Ultimate plans and during the trial (not on the older Expert 2024 plan).
Credit packs work as one shared balance that clients spend across your whole offer — different classes can cost a different number of credits. They also let you set up a cancellation fee window (e.g., clients only get 50% of their credits back if they cancel too close to the class start time).
You can also combine both systems.
