Tax settings: what to check after changing your tax rate

Updated today

This article is for businesses that charge tax (VAT). Changing the tax rate affects payment receipts and order exports. Tax settings are configured in Settings > Payments > Payment Receipts.

Where to find tax settings

  1. Go to Settings > Payments.

  2. In the Payment Receipts section, you'll find:

    • Issue Payment Receipts — the main toggle

    • Tax rate for classes, courses, workshops, and appointments (%) — the default rate for services

    • Tax rate for credits, passes, and memberships (%) — the rate for bundles

  3. The default rate applies to all services that don't have a custom rate set.

Custom tax rate for a specific service

When editing a class, course, or appointment, you can enable "Use custom tax rate" and enter a different rate in percent. This rate overrides the default.

What happens after a change

Important: The new rate only applies to new orders. Already issued receipts remain unchanged and may need to be reviewed or handled manually.

When changing the rate, the system asks you to confirm: "I understand and want to change this tax rate".

Changing the tax rate for a specific order

If you need to correct the rate on an existing order:

  1. Open the order detail.

  2. Click Change Tax Rate.

  3. Enter the new rate.

This change applies only to that specific order.

FAQ

Will existing receipts update automatically?
