Stripe: Local payment methods

Updated today

When your clients pay through Stripe, they can use cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. On top of that, Stripe supports local payment methods — options that are common in specific countries. These methods appear automatically during checkout.

You don't need to configure anything. If a local payment method is available for the given currency and country, it will show up as an option for the client.

Local payment methods are shown to clients automatically based on the currency and the country of your Stripe account. If a method is not available for your Stripe account, clients will only see card payment, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Note

Zenamu uses a place & hold feature for lecture payments — instead of charging the client's card right away, the amount is temporarily held (Uncaptured). If the client cancels in time, no transaction fee is charged. You can read more about this in our article about payment statuses.

Some local payment methods do not support this hold feature. In countries where the local method doesn't support holds, payments are charged immediately.
