Zenamu has several account types and roles. This article gives you a full overview of who can do what in the admin panel: the permissions Instructor, Manager and Administrator, and how to add people to your studio. How to put two instructors on the same class is a different topic, covered in Multiple instructors for a class, course or event.
Account types
Studio — for fitness studios, dance schools, and similar venues with multiple instructors.
Freelancer (instructor) — for individual instructors who manage their own schedule and clients.
Client — the end user who books classes.
Instructor permissions in a studio
Permission | What they can do | Best for |
Instructor (default) | An instructor with a registered email (and their own Zenamu account) manages attendance for the classes and courses they teach. No access to other settings. | External instructors |
Manager | Sees attendees for all sessions, schedules new sessions, cancels bookings and manages all orders. Has access to the client and order overviews. No access to studio settings. | Front desk staff |
Administrator | Everything a Manager can do, plus all booking system settings, revenue statistics, instructor management and the studio's Zenamu plan (the Plan page). | Co-owners, deputies |
How to add an instructor to your studio
Adding more instructors to your studio is available on the Expert and Ultimate plans (including Expert 2024) and during a studio trial. On the free Getting Started plan, Standard, Lite and Professional, you can see and edit your instructor list, but you can't add another person.
Go to Settings → Instructors and collaborations
In the Instructors section, click + Add. The Add new instructor dialog opens.
Fill in the instructor's details
In the Permissions section at the bottom, choose the permission level. Every person is an Instructor by default. Under Extended permissions, tick Manager if needed (it needs an email address). The Administrator option appears only after you tick Manager.
How to change an existing instructor's permissions
Go to Settings → Instructors and collaborations
Click the instructor's name
Change the permission level
Save your changes
Recommendation: Always assign the lowest permission level the person needs. Expand access gradually as needed.
Suggested role distribution: front desk vs. management
Front desk: day-to-day operations with schedule items, clients, and orders (permission: Manager).
Studio leadership: configuration, pricing, cancellation policies, and strategic changes (permission: Administrator).
FAQ
An instructor was given too broad permissions — how do I fix it?
Go to Settings → Instructors and collaborations, click the instructor, and lower their permission to the appropriate level.
I don't see the Instructors and collaborations menu in Settings
The Instructors and collaborations menu item in Settings is available on every plan, but only to users with Administrator permissions. If you don't see it, ask an Administrator of your studio to give you that permission. You don't need to change your plan to see the instructor list.
Why can't I add another instructor?
Adding more instructors is available on the Expert and Ultimate plans and during a studio trial. On Getting Started, Standard, Lite and Professional, clicking + Add shows the message "Adding more instructors is available on the Expert and Ultimate plans." To add people, upgrade your plan on the Plan page: on a computer, click the Plan button in the top bar next to your profile menu; on a phone, tap Plan in the main menu.
Putting two or more instructors on the same class, course or event is a separate plan feature. See Multiple instructors for a class, course or event.
