This article is about your studio's own Zenamu plan: billing periods, upgrades, downgrades, cancellation and payments to Zenamu. It isn't about memberships or recurring memberships you sell to your clients. For those, see Managing existing members — pause, resume, cancel.
Where do I manage my Zenamu plan?
Everything about your Zenamu plan is on the Plan page. On a computer, click the Plan button in the top bar next to your profile menu. On a phone, open the main menu and tap Plan.
During the trial, or on the free plan if you've never paid for Zenamu, the button in the top bar reads Buy subscription. After you cancel your subscription, it reads Subscribe again. The Plan page isn't in Settings, and only users with Administrator permissions (the super admin role) can open it.
How the billing period works
Your subscription renews on exactly the same day and time you originally purchased it. For example, if you subscribed on January 8 at 5:49 PM, it will always renew on the 8th of each month at 5:49 PM.
You can check your current plan, its billing period and the date of the next payment on the Plan page.
Upgrading to a higher plan
An upgrade of your Zenamu plan takes effect as soon as the charge for it is paid. You pay the full price of the new plan minus a credit for the unused days of your current plan, and a new billing period starts on the day of the upgrade.
Before you confirm, the Prorated charge for plan change box shows the exact amount to pay.
Open the Plan page.
Click Upgrade subscription.
Select the new plan and confirm.
From an annual plan, you can only upgrade to another annual plan. If you don't pay for your plan by card, write to us and we'll change the plan for you. The full calculation with an example is in How to Upgrade Your Plan.
Downgrading to a lower plan
A downgrade of your Zenamu plan takes effect on your next renewal date. Until then, your current plan and all its features remain active. Nothing from the current billing period is refunded.
Open the Plan page.
Click Downgrade subscription.
Select the new plan.
The Plan page then shows the change under Scheduled changes, with your current plan and the upcoming plan. You can cancel a scheduled downgrade there before it takes effect.
The lowest plan you can downgrade to is Standard. To move to the free plan, cancel your subscription instead (see below).
Important: If your current plan includes features not available on the lower plan (such as memberships or a higher course limit), those features will become unavailable once the new plan takes effect. For example, recurring memberships are paused when you leave Ultimate.
Order limit reset
The order counter resets at the beginning of each new billing period — not at the start of the calendar month. If you subscribed on March 15, the limit resets on the 15th of each month. On an annual plan, the counter also resets every month, on the day of the month your plan started.
The monthly order limit depends on your plan: 30 orders on the free plan, 150 on Standard, 500 on Expert and unlimited on Ultimate.
Monthly vs. annual subscription
Zenamu offers both monthly and annual subscriptions. With an annual subscription, you get one month free. You can switch between monthly and annual at any time (the older Lite plan can't switch) — for details, see the article How to switch your Zenamu plan between monthly and annual billing.
What happens when a payment fails
If the payment for a new period doesn't go through (e.g., due to an expired card, insufficient funds, or a low online payment limit), the system will automatically retry. Your account will remain active during this time.
If the payment fails repeatedly, your account will be switched to the free plan.
Important: Your clients can still book classes on the free plan, up to 30 orders per month. The free plan doesn't include courses and events, so clients can't book those until you subscribe again.
Cancelling your subscription
If you cancel your Zenamu subscription, your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for. After that, it won't renew, you won't be charged again and your account switches to the free plan. There's no notice period, and the payment for the current month or year isn't refunded. Your classes, clients and settings stay in your account.
Open the Plan page.
Click Cancel subscription.
Confirm with Yes, cancel my subscription.
Changed your mind? Before the paid period ends, click Continue subscription on the Plan page. You can also subscribe again later at any time.
If you're on an older plan that is no longer offered, you can't return to it after cancelling. See How to Cancel Your Zenamu Subscription.
What if I'm not using Zenamu for a while (e.g., during the summer break)
If your subscription stays active, the system will automatically charge the next payment — including for periods when, for whatever reason, you don't plan to use Zenamu. It's not within the system's capabilities or ours to individually assess, for each studio, whether you want to use, pause, or cancel your subscription in a given month — or to monitor this on a per-customer basis.
The Zenamu plan can't be paused. Instead, every customer can cancel their monthly or annual subscription in advance at any time. The subscription stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for, and after that no further payment is charged. You can subscribe again whenever you want.
Recommended steps before a summer break
If you know that you won't be actively using Zenamu for a certain period:
Cancel your subscription before the next automatic payment date — on the Plan page, click Cancel subscription.
You'll have full access to all features until the end of the current paid period. After that, your account switches to the free plan and your data stays.
When you want to use the platform again, subscribe again with the button in the top bar (after a cancellation it reads Subscribe again).
This way, you'll avoid an unintended renewal for the next period.
Important: We don't refund recurring payments that have already been processed. This applies to monthly and annual plans. A subscription works like any other prepaid service — the payment covers your right to use the service during that period, regardless of whether you actually used it. That's why we recommend cancelling the subscription in advance, before the next renewal date.
Payment methods
You can pay for your Zenamu plan by credit or debit card via the Stripe payment gateway. The payment is charged automatically. You can replace the card on the Plan page under Subscription payment method — see How to change your payment card for the Zenamu subscription.
Bank transfer is available for annual plans only. If you'd like to pay this way, write to us in the chat.
